The hike was around 4 miles round trip at an elevation of just over 2000. That meant 2 miles up and 2 miles down. Seemed simple enough… or so I thought.
The first time I ever went hiking in Washington I knew I was hooked. Even though there were a few moments where I thought I was going to throw up, pass out, or worse…fall off the side of the mountain.

I spent my 25th birthday with my boyfriend and 2 of our close friends backpacking through the Hoh Rainforest in the Olympic National Park of Washington.
This world can be a real son of a gun sometimes.
It can make you lose hope, lose direction, lose yourself, and on really crappy days maybe even lose your faith in humanity.
However, I’m not here to talk about that side of the world, I think we all hear enough about that crap already.
I’m here to talk about the other side, you know, the one where all the rare gems hide.
